Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre

The Civic centre was designed in 2003. It has a NHL size arena, racquet courts, conference space, fitness centre, performance space, walking track and municipal offices. It has a conventional concrete foundation with a steel superstructure.  The arena utilized a unique truss design in the arena, allowing for a band of translucent panels to illuminate the ice surface. This meant on ice activities during daytime could exclusively use natural light.  There is also a walking track at the circumference of the second level of the arena. The entire complex, including its bleachers, is economically heated with geo-thermally heat.
